Self-Empowerment on the Road to Financial Freedom

There’s really no way around self-empowerment on the road to financial freedom. Financial freedom can’t just happen in a vacuum.

When I began my journey to living my best life, one of the biggest obstacles in my path was my debt.

I was over $40,000 in debt and I knew, no matter what I did or how I did it, that debt had to go away first. I had to lighten that debt load in order to move forward with anything.

I couldn’t see or think straight for thinking about all that money owed to the bank and credit card companies. How did I get rid of this debt? I empowered myself with the tools required to get out of debt fast.

I’m not going to go into detail about how I went down the rabbit hole of debt but it started with $4,000 and then kept on growing from there till I came to my senses in 2010.

I created a plan for getting out of debt, building an emergency fund, and saving up to live my best life and I gave myself 5 years to achieve my goals.

I did it in 4 years. I paid off all the debt after 3.5 years and quit my job in August 2014 to start living my best life.

I came outside the box of 9 – 5 thinking. I knew if I depended on only my salary to pay off my debt, I would never see the end of it.

I stepped outside the linear box of thinking, took risks, implemented action plans, and focused on the positives.

And when I paid off my debt, I stepped out of the 9 – 5 box to create my own opportunities to become financially independent.

You see, you will never become wealthy working for someone else. All you will do is make that person richer while you just manage to keep things afloat.

Having a job is one source of income. In order to become wealthy, you need to take action and create multiple streams of income for yourself.

In an earlier article, I mentioned all the things I do to make money. It’s not one thing. I do many things so if one thing croaks or falters, I never get nervous because I know other things are still going on. 

How did I create these multiple streams of income? I monetized my passion, acquired the skill sets I needed, and turned it into a valuable product that people want.
