Get started on your self-empowerment journey with these 4 awesome tips.
As beautiful as the idea of self-empowerment sounds, it’s not always so easy to get going with it.
The concept sounds great in your head and you really want to conquer your mountains but it’s so much easier to just not do anything.
As a lazy person, I feel you. Do you know that I’d rather sleep most of the day?
However, I’m not going to do that because I’ve got shit to do and I need to get a move on with it.
What is it that makes me get moving even though my natural instinct is to laze about in bed all day?
Determination for one, and that’s just the tip of living my best life iceberg.
In this article, I’m going to share some of the best ways to get started on your self-empowerment journey when it looks like too much work:-
Best Tips for Getting Started on Your Self-Empowerment Journey
1. Meditation
Yep. This is an exercise I carry out every morning while I get ready for the day. I also do it for 5 – 10 minutes every night before falling asleep.
Meditation is a very important exercise on the way to finding and empowering yourself. Lie down, empty your mind and focus on everything you want to be.
Meditation helps you train and prepare your mind, it helps you focus on what you need to do and achieve and it fosters concentration.
I picked up my meditation techniques during my martial arts days but if you’re new to meditation, it can be extremely difficult to empty your mind.
Additionally, there are several meditation techniques and whichever one you choose depends on what you want to achieve.
To get started with meditation, take a look at Mindfulness in Plain English or Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation.
You can listen to both for free with an Amazon Audible Free Trial. Try it out HERE.
2. Make a Plan and Set Goals
Get started by putting together a plan. Remember an action plan is required for self-empowerment.
It’s not just some random thought process that magically happens.
What do you need to become a self-empowered person? A new job? A location change? Write a book? Start an online business?
Figure it out, grab your flip chart or notebook and put together a plan for it. What do you need to do to get that new job? What are the steps to achieving it?
Lay it out in your flip chart or notebook. This roadmap is very important because, without it, you’re going to get lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and forget about it.
Your plan and roadmap hold you accountable. Ensure that you set SMART goals – Smart, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timebound.
I highly recommend creating a vision board as well to keep yourself accountable. I recommend Create an Actionable Vision Board Kit.
3. Have a Positive Mindset
Who can stop you from achieving what you want? No one but yourself. With meditation, you can redirect your mind into a positive mindset.
One of the best tools for success, happiness, and achieving your life goals is a positive mindset.
What does a positive mindset involve? Believe in yourself, believe in the power of your dreams, and don’t let anyone make you believe you’re not capable of being all that you can be.
Eliminate negative thought processes. They’re useless and can’t help with anything except pull you down.
Tell yourself every day you’re phenomenal. Here’s something cute I tell myself every morning as I dress up –
“Baby, you’re not just a ray of sunshine. You’re the whole motherfucking sun. Go out there and SHINE.”
It may sound silly but believe me, it works. Every morning without fail, I tell myself that. Find your uplifting phrase and tell it to yourself every day!
4. Improve Your Knowledge and Skills
Sometimes, what you want to achieve involves learning new things and updating your skills.
It’s a step to becoming a self-empowered person. Don’t be afraid of this. You don’t have to go back to college either.
You can take online courses for free and at budget prices in places like Udemy and Coursera.
You can also listen to relevant audiobooks for free with an Audible Membership.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step so get going today. Baby steps but be determined to move forward in some way every day.
